1) How much does each course cost?

Novice Rider Course (NRC) subsidized by the State of Washington
$125
Novice Rider Course (NRC) subsidized by the State of Washington
for riders under 18 years
$50
Full Tuition Novice Rider Course (NRC) $250
Intermediate Rider Course (IRC) $125

2) What are the class times?
All NRC class times are Saturdays 7:30am - 4:30pm, Sundays 7am - 4:30pm
All IRC class times are Saturdays 8:00am - 2:00pm

3) What is the difference between the full tuition NRC and the subsidized NRC?
There is no difference between the two courses except the cost. The subsidized NRC course is $125 and the Washington State Department of Licensing pays the remainder of the tuition beyond the first $125.

4) Why is there a price difference for the full tuition NRC course?
Demand exceeds the number of subsidies available from the state. Students willing to pay the entire cost of the course can be accommodated by the full tuition NRC course. This also creates the option of getting into an earlier course.

5) How do I qualify for the subsidized course?
If you have a current Washington State drivers license (Washington resident) or if you are in the military with a current driver's license from your home state and stationed in Washington you are qualified to take the subsidized NRC. However, there are a limited number of Subsidized spaces and Full Tuition spaces available in each class.

6) Why do you need my driver's license number and date of birth?
We take these to prove residency, thus making you eligible for the state subsidy that keeps the price at $125. We must charge $250 for registrations without a Washington driver's license number excluding military.

7) Can I just drop in for a class?
No. Only prepaid students will be admitted.

8) What riding gear do I need to take the courses?

The following equipment is required for both the NRC and the IRC:
· DOT approved helmet (some loaner helmets are available).
· Eye protection (face shield, sunglasses, etc.).
· Sturdy over the ankle footwear.
· Full fingered leather gloves or motorcycle riding gloves.
· Long sleeve shirt or jacket.
· Full length pants (reasonably form fitting, no baggy pants!).
· All weather gear (optional but highly recommended!).

9) Will I still have to take a test to get my endorsement?
No, if you successfully complete the Novice Rider Course (NRC) or the Intermediate Rider Course (IRC) and receive a completion card you will have 180 days following the completion date of your course to obtain your motorcycle endorsement. However, you will still be required to pay the DOL fee to have the endorsement added to your license. To keep your endorsement at license renewal time you will also need to renew your endorsement each time.

10) What happens if I have to cancel or don't show up for class?
PMRE, Inc. has a strict 5 business day cancellation and/or reschedule policy. If you need to cancel your registration or reschedule we must hear from you more than 5 business days prior to the class start date. If you don't contact us or call more than 5 business days before your class starts, any money paid for a class will be forfeited and there will be NO refunds.

11) How long is the NRC and what is the daily schedule?
The Novice Rider Course (NRC) is 16 hours of instruction/riding broken down into two days in the classroom and the range. NOTE: Please do not be late. If a student is not in class by the start time, he/she will be dismissed from class and will forfeit the entire registration fee.

Saturday: classroom 7:30-10:30am, one hour lunch, range 11:30pm-4:30pm
Sunday: iiiiclassroom 7:00-10:30am, one hour lunch, range 11:30pm-4:30pm

12) How long is the IRC and what is the daily schedule?

The Intermediate Rider Course (IRC) is 7-8 hours of instruction/riding completed in one day on the range.
Saturday:irange 8am-3:30pm

13) Will there still be class if it rains?
Absolutely! The Course will run rain or shine. Students are responsible for their own personal rain gear.

14) Under what weather conditions will the class be cancelled?
The ONLY time that classes will be cancelled is due to safety concerns such as ice and/or snow on the riding range or other very extreme inclement conditions.

15) If I am an intermediate rider which course is for me?

We offer an Intermediate Rider Course (IRC) for riders who are already riding on the road. To take this course you are required to have ridden for at least 90 days or have 3000 miles of experience, bring your own motorcycle with proof of insurance, and you must be legal to ride on the street. (Permit or Endorsement) Your motorcycle must be in compliance with all noise emissions to take this course.

16) Do I need a motorcycle to take the NRC?
No. The Novice Rider Course (NRC) does not require you to own your own motorcycle. We will provide training motorcycles.

17) As a student, may I ride my own motorcycle to the course?

Yes, as a student you may ride your own motorcycle to the class. However, as a student you may not ride your own motorcycle on the NRC range.

18) Do I need a motorcycle permit to take the course?
No. However, if you are interested in getting a Motorcycle Instruction Permit to operate a motorcycle on the public roadways, you may start with a motorcycle instruction permit. The permit is valid for 90 days. To apply for the motorcycle permit, you must be at least 16 years of age, have a Washington State drivers license and pass a written test on motorcycle operation. While learning to ride you may not carry passengers and you may not ride a motorcycle during the hours of darkness. For more info contact: http://.dol.wa.gov/ds/mtrcycle.htm

19) Do I get my license after I complete the course?
Upon successful completion of the NRC curriculum you will receive your endorsement completion card. You may bring your completion card to any DOL Office within 180 days, and the knowledge and skills test will be waived.

20) Will I be endorsed for bikes above 350cc?
Yes. As of July 25,1999 Washington State eliminated the different levels for motorcycle endorsements. Now the only endorsement issued is the M3, which allows people to ride any size bike.

21) What type of motorcycles will I be riding in the NRC course?
PMRE, Inc. supplies the bikes, which are 250cc or smaller. Our local motorcycle sponsor loans many of the bikes, so a variety may be available. Are you vertically challenged? Smallest bike is 27.5" (ground to seat top).

22) I've never ridden before, which course is for me?
The Novice Rider Course (NRC) is designed for the student with little or no riding experience as well as motorcycle riders returning to the road to learn the basic mental and physical skills needed to ride responsibily.

23) Where can I buy the riding gear that I need?

We recommend that you check out our title sponsor, PA Power Equipment. Our sponsor carries a full line of protective gear and has knowledgeable staff that would be happy to assist you with your riding needs.

The instructor will ask to see proof of both at the class and scooter must pass T-Clock Inspection. PMRE does not have any scooters available.
